An amzing article. Good for you. Hopefully it will get someone's attention to get your book published.

Tony died from atherosclerosis too. When the article mentions how your husband was coughing it brought back so many memories of the week leading up to Tony's death and the irritable cough he had.

Alex was truly amazing at 3 years old to be able to go get help. You must be so proud of him.

Good luck with the publication of the book.

I am a Glasgow girl so it is the Evening Times for us. It brought back happy memories of Edinburgh, where I lived for 5 years, went to uni and met my love. He always bought the Evening News.

It's a lovely article-you should be very proud of yourself and your two children.

Hi Elke,

I just read your article, and just wanted to send you a big hug and say... I don't really know, ...but say how well you seem to be doing and that you have done so much to help your children, especially your son who really needed the extra help in the circumstances.

I'm not sure if you know, (i think we have written on some of the same posts) but my husband was 33 when he died of a brain tumour, leaving me with a daughter, Ella who is now 2, was nearly 15 months when her daddy died, so I guess I particularly empathise with your story.

I hope your book gets some interest, the little ones need as much help as possible. So, thank you for having the strength to try! (I don't know where you found the time!?! Very impressed!)

Sorry, trains of thought post!
Lots of love anyway,
Annabel. x

Re: Evening News article
Thank you all for your kind words - here and on FB. I was just so surprised to find that there were no books I could buy for my son to explain what had happened, that it just wrote itself. And I'm going to get it published. One way or another. I've promised myself that. And all your comments are very encouraging. Thank you so much.

Much love, xxx, Elke

P.S.: If anyone would like to read the script, just ask Kate for my email, and get in touch. Or contact me on FB. Elke Barber, as you now know (the one with the picture). xxx

hi elke
i'm the lesley bingham on facebook.
your story was so heart wrenching.......your life and mine are similar. was crying as i read it.no one can fully understand how sad it is dealing with grieving children. They talk about death with such innocence.with leo and eva it is a pre occupation with burial....... i get strange looks...... and yes it is so hard that the younger ones may not even remember their daddy.
