Maisie not so great
Sorry all ,wanted to bring good news but it's been a bad few days. Maisie the cat's illness and emergancy dashes to the vet's and B's birthday got all tangled up with the result that my son and I ended up at B's graveside at 8. 30 pm last night, laying flowers on the grave by the light of the car headlights (B would have laughed at us- tho maybe not if he'd heard the sobbing).
Anyway the news today was that she got a massive brain tumour so that's it.
Have brought her home as my daughter's travelling up from London tomorrow to say goodbye to her before she's put to sleep. She's not in pain but very confused. It's hard to watch and I had a sleepless night last night with so much double grief emerging. Funny how in the night when you live alone you cry loudly all night and think you're going mad and when morning comes you get up and sort things out and go to work like a robot. Only when the vets rang me at work with the news I wadn't quite so robotic then.
I'm so tired now. But reminding myself that she's had a good long cat innings , unlike those that we have loved and lost. And I will survive this because I've survived so much worse.
So will say goodnight and sorry to have brought bad news after all your finger and paw crossing,
Sue x

B probably wants a bit of company. he might have called her. One day you will be feeling better than you ever have before and you will realize that you too have crossed over when they both meet you at the rainbow bridge.

There is a brownish reddish dog and my darling waiting there for me.

My darlings other doggie, was so lonely and sad after he passed until she met another boy doggie one day who put a smile back onto her face. Perhaps these puppies were a lovely gift from him.

If you look and listen B will send you something ,somehow and though you might not know right away later on you will realize from where and whom it came.

I'm sorry darling ..I have always had cats , and i DO understand.
Maisie has been a lovely friend /family to you for a long time ...now you need to be a friend to her and do what she needs you to do.
As the vet said to me when I had to make that dreadful decision about my beloved pepper after 19 years ...if you love him, let him go peacefully.
Wishing you peace tonight Sue .
in warmth, Anna

Don't know if this will help or not, but there is a poem called 'Rainbow Bridge' - (google it on the internet) that many of my clients who have lost pets have found helpful. (I'm a vet). I havn't been able to read it without sheding tears, especially since losing J, but it is a beautiful poem.

Hi Sue - just got computer fixed and saw your post. Please give Maisie a pat from me, yes you are right she has had a blessed life with you as her owner.

If you can Sue just sit with it for now, let the grief come and let is ease.

Go back to a day at a time if it helps.

Glad your daughter will be with you, and yes the morning always seems to be the time to work and the night for crying.

Its just for now Sue, I promise you it does get better.

The sun is shining here in Aberdeenshire and I am sending some to you today.

Take care and just a day at a time, maybe there is space in your home for another Maisie in time to come, but for now you are loving her and giving her the loving end she deserves.

Lots of love and friendship

Hi Sue

So sorry about Maisie, I know what it's like to lose a much loved pet. I was going to suggest reading "Rainbow Bridge" but it's already been mentioned.

Oh Sue I'm so sorry.
My daughter took on an older rescue cat years ago. poor thing had been hit by a car, then probably attacked by a fox before she was saved.
she lived for several years with my daughter but eventually developed a brain tumour and had to PTS.
It is so hard to lose a pet and my thoughts are with you today.
Love and hugs

Re: Maisie not so great
Dear Sue,

I would also suggest the "Rainbow Bridge" poem although I will warn you it is a weepie. So sorry about Maisie, with a number of oldies myself I know how hard it is to say goodbye to such a loving friend. I have lost two such friends in the last couple of years.

I do not know if it helps but when I went to a medium Mick told him all about my cats and told me that our previous cats were with him and one was sat on his knee and the medium said he could hear her purring loudly. I think it was my Lilly, as she had a purr like no other and was very partial to Mick's knee.

Maisie has obviously had a wonder long pussy cat life with you and you continue to do the best for her. Sending her a big kiss from me.

Love

Sally
