what a great afternoon!
Just to let you all know that we had our first Northern Ireland get together this afternoon (well it ran on into the evening).....and it was huge success!

It was so good to sit around with others who had gone through a similar experience. We laughed and we cried and then we laughed again....then we ate some of Gillys "home made" scones!!!

Thanks to Gilly for hosting the afternoon and thanks to Kate and this site for putting us in touch with eachother.

roll on Donegal!

Clodagh xo

I had a great day....and thanks to C&co;, I found this web site! sorry I had to leave early.....my stomach was sore from laughing and weight watchers wouldnt permit any more scones! So good to talk...my family all commented on how 'alive' I looked when I came back ! It is hard journey to do alone, and now I know there are others outthere who will walk it with me xxx

Hi Clodagh, Gilly and Shog, L are you over here in Ireland?

I had such a great time yesterday, we have to do it again for sure. Thanks Gilly so much xx

It felt so good to be with others who really understood and could talk from personal experience. If anyone is dithering about going to a meet up I would say go for it and you'll be so glad you did.

Don't know about tent in Donegal Shog, thinking more of nice hotel/ spa, face masks, nice food, lovely walks, sea air etc, wellies, hmmm perhaps not!!

Be in touch

love and ((hugs))

Shar xoxo

Re: what a great afternoon!
I stay in Scotland, but have good friends in Donegal and visit a couple of times a year.

Going back to stay with our friends in October with oldest son and a few of our other friends. This will be first time without hubby, so will be different.

Hi Sara, can't wait to meet you at the next meet up. We had a blast and the more the merrier!!

L, hope to meet you if we do Donegal and you're over again. It's a special place to me as it's where we spent our last wedding anniversary.

Take care all

Re: what a great afternoon!
so good to hear you all had such a good time.

My new grandaughter arrived last Thursday morning, so I was left to care for other 2 as well as keeping son's restaurant going.

Sad that i missed what sounds like a good day.

I am soooooooooo interested in a meet in donegal, as i am on the donegal/fermanagh border. My daughter and myself are off up to Ramelton for a week this Saturday

When are you thinking of meeting in Donegal? And ideas of exactly where?

Re: what a great afternoon!
Hi Sandra,

Congratulations on the new arrival, that's wonderful news!! Sounds like you've been up to your eyes with everything. I'm sure your family are so glad you're there to help.

About Donegal it's a case of watch this space. Nothing's been decided yet but will post for you on this site and arrange email through Kate. I think we were thinking soonish but just not sure exactly when. It's sure to be fun and I really hope it happens, I could really do with a wee break before schools go back and evenings draw in.

I love Fermanagh and spent many happy summers there, cruising, fishing, walking and horseriding, just a wonderful place. I love the islands and hope to go back next year.

So, will keep you posted and hope to see you in the near future. Enjoy lots of cuddle time with your new grandaughter!
